Many Moons Solution (name): MMS forms the first name initials of me & my 2 kids. Many is for me because I am the 3rd, Moons is for my son because he was born on a Blue Moon, Solution is for my daughter because she said so!
Many Moons Solution (purpose): Originally, all the aspects of residential energy efficiency were detailed on this website (2002).
It remains good information that I may post here again eventually but it needs a serious update to reflect the technology advancements.
Web Design: This website was hastily patched together with HTML & PHP code (when database gets up & running) based on websites I developed years ago. Please excuse the simplicity.
Web Hosting Costs: FYI - my costs are Domain - $10/year, Hosting - $10.99/month. So for about $150/yr you can host your own website.
Database: SQL PHP code completely changed and I am still reworking my code that I had developed for a database that I set up that was respectably comprehensive. It had register/login and forms for rating pizza on a website created exclusively for that purpose.
It will take a while but I do plan to get that up for this website. In the meanwhile, please contact me via email if any of this interests you.
Security: This site is currently not secured. Security costs money.
Once enough interest is established after the database is up and running I can get this service where the website is scanned for malware daily.
Martin F Danahy 35 year Work Experience (FYI - I don't post my resume on L-In, I will take this down in a few days, please don't share, post or distribute):
I mostly worked in factories during High School & College. I've been in engineering since 1984 (SUNY at Stony Brook BEEE) and here's a high level sequential synopsis.
1. Electrical filter design & manufacturing. [1 yr]
2. Aircraft Landing Systems Microprocessor & Gate-Array Design & Development, System Integration. [4 yrs]
3. Medical Instrumentation (Blood Gas Analyzers, Multi-Function Patient Monitors) Microprocessor Design & Development, System Architecture, Manufacturing, Project Management. [7 + 3 yrs]
4. Control Products Design, Development, Manufacture. [1 yr]
5. Aircraft On-Board Communication Systems. [1 yr]
6. Lighting Efficiency Upgrades of High-Rise Buildings. [13 yrs F/T, 5 yrs P/T & counting]
7. LED Lighting Specification, Design, Development and Liaison to Asian Engineering & Manufacturing for Automotive & Residential long life energy efficient LED lighting. [4 yrs]
8. Assorted Part-Time Work for FUN (a very twisted idea of fun...) as I re-tool for future! [1 yr]
9. That brings us to NOW! Anything is possible.
Inspirations:
Daughter - At age 6 her environmental importance dissertation has led me down this path more than anything.
Son - Served in U.S. Marines with Gulf War Theater deployments - his dedication and service to the USA has led me to investigate the foundation of our freedom at home (LibertyRules.us (as in we)).
They're both now well into their careers and are off to the races!
Corporate America - Good luck with that... Sure, I would not have got all this valuable experience without working for them but in my experience, they will chew you up and spit you out. I envision a new business model of a Co-Lab where contributors get some form of stock in the company for their monetary and/or time investments in its success.
Co-Lab America (collaboration) - The world and society are rapidly changing while people, governments and corps. cling onto past and soon to be irrelevant constructs.
Other than brick and mortar storefronts, there is really not a need for people to commute to a place to work together. All that can be done on-line today. Environmentally that is not a bad thing.
As much as the MMS focus is on residential, vehicle emissions is a huge source of pollution so if there are less people having to commute to a job there'll be less exhaust pollution.
My brother Darren is very active in the music scene (Keldari Station) and he collaborates worldwide in his craft.
Music has often led our society by the ear. The sentiments of the lyrics and their methods of creating the sounds are often ahead of the curve.
Co-Lab World (enabling technologies) - Gadgets and gismos require an embedded computer and some physical manifestation.
Both can now be done inexpensively making the cost barrier of entry to create your solution quite reasonable.
For the physical one can buy a basic but fairly good 3D printer for under $500.
For the computing development platform there exists a board that fits in the palm of your hand called RaspberryPi. For $30 it gives you a full fledged computing software development platform with lots of I/O for sensing & control.
You just plug in an HDMI display, uSD card (32GB), mouse, keyboard, uUSB cord for power and your developing.
If you create something good, once you get the bugs out you can reduce the costs to commercialize it.
I'm linked up with a group of Senior Engineers on Long Island, NY and they are embarking on learning RaspberryPi which I now have the tools for.
It is not that I'm endorsing RaspberryPi as there are other similar platforms.
I just trust that the people in this other group did a fair amount of investigation and this is the platform they settled on using.
If anyone is interested in this, we can learn together (that's their motto).
I just discovered GitHub.com which fosters on-line collaborative coding.
I'm sure there are lots of similar platforms to enable collaborating.
We gotta turn this * around!
Take a deep breath.
Now focus... WE CAN DO IT!!!
